Western North Slope

The Colville River Unit encompasses the Alpine Field and the nearby satellite fields of Fiord, Nanuq and Qannik. During the second quarter of 2018, ConocoPhillips acquired the remaining 22 percent interest in the Western North Slope of Alaska, including the Colville River Unit, Greater Mooses Tooth Unit, Bear Tooth Unit and 733,000 undeveloped acres in the NPR-A. The company now owns 100 percent interest in approximately 1.2 million acres of exploration and development lands in the area, including the Willow Discovery. Net production from the Western North Slope included 7 MBOED associated with the additional interest acquired.


ConocoPhillips Information Technology (IT) provides technical services to the ConocoPhillips network. If you are selected for this role you will implement infrastructure solutions focused in the areas of network (LAN, WAN, Wireless, VOIP, Microwave Radio, 2-Way Radio and Infrastructure) and data center technologies. You will work closely with the global infrastructure teams and Alaska business unit operations to identify and implement infrastructure solutions that meet Alaska’s needs.

Responsibilities may include:

  • The Telecommunication Technician will be responsible for ConocoPhillips North Slope (Western North Slope-Alpine) Alaska’s development and support of:

  • Infrastructure

  • Microwave Radio

  • LAN/WAN support

  • IP communications

  • Cisco VOIP and Call Center support

  • WiFi support

  • Infrastructure operations, budget, implementation, and support

  • Infrastructure Capital projects, budget, implementation, and support

  • Infrastructure Drilling & Exploration operation, budget, implementation, and support



  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or national, or an alien admitted as permanent resident, refugee or asylee

  • Valid driver’s license

  • 5 years of experience in an Information Technology Telecommunication Technician role

  • 5 years Cisco LAN/WAN, VOIP, wireless installation and operational experience in a corporate enterprise

  • 5 years of fiber optic installation/testing

  • Holds or able to obtain a Communications Tower Certificate

  • Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodations) to work a rotating shift (14 days on/14 days off) on the North Slope of Alaska


  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Systems, Information Technology, or other related discipline or foreign equivalent

  • 10 years of experience in Information Technology/ Information System roles

  • 1 years Cisco Call Manager system administration

  • CCNA qualification or greater

  • Experience in the configuration and support of Motorola components

  • Proven project management skills and budgeting experience

  • Willing to work in a team-oriented environment. Must be a team player

  • Good technical and analytical problem-solving skills. Can quickly grasp different concepts, and apply the knowledge creatively and intelligently to the solution of complex problems

  • Good organization and communication skills, and ability to provide after-hours support

  • Ability to clearly express complex issues through effective verbal and written communication which includes the ability to author technical documentation

  • Positive attitude, proactive, adaptable and focused

  • Willing to participate and support the Incident Command System (ICS) and Incident Management Team (IMT)

  • Customer service orientated and able to work with difficult customers in a stressful environment
