Alaska Overview

ConocoPhillips is Alaska’s largest crude oil producer and largest owner of exploration leases, with approximately 1.3 million net undeveloped acres at year-end 2019. The company produced an average of 218 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2019. ConocoPhillips holds major ownership interests in the Prudhoe Bay Unit, the Kuparuk River Unit, and the Colville River Unit (Alpine). The company operates the Kuparuk and Alpine oil fields, has an ownership interest in the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS) and owns/operates the Polar Tankers fleet.

Description

This position is responsible for supervising the Alaska Network Services team and providing technical services to the Alaska, Anchorage and North Slope, through day-to-day operations and strategic leadership. The team supports all network services infrastructure for all the Alaska sites, the execution of network and telecommunications projects, and collaborates closely with company IT and Automation Teams.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Supervise ConocoPhillips Alaska network services and telecom staff technicians

  • Assist in developing strategic direction for growth projects and IT/OT modernization efforts

  • Assuring compliance with CPISP and other relevant COP and industry standards for network security.

  • Ensure reliability of networks and all modes of communications for COP’s remote arctic fields, drilling rigs and infrastructure.

  • Lead and coordinate multiple projects and services concurrently including scope of work, cost estimates, preparing AFEs, implementation oversight, resource scheduling, and tracking/reporting costs & progress.

  • Assess infrastructure and recognize additional value-adding opportunities for further service, cost improvements, and long-term stability.

  • Demonstrate focus on cost management, process efficiency, customer service, and service delivery

  • Working closely with automation and other company IT teams on network challenges/issues and direction.

Qualifications:

Basic/Required:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or national or an alien admitted as permanent resident, refugee or asylee

  • 7 years' experience in Network/Telecommunications roles

  • Intermediate knowledge of network telecommunications technology and systems

  • Valid Driver's License

  • Willing and able to work a rotating shift (14 days on/14 days off)

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Knowledge of telecommunications technology. Specific focus on LAN/WAN, Voice Communications, Physical Infrastructure, and RF theory.

  • In-depth knowledge of networking and telecommunication systems, concepts, applicable methodologies, tools, standards, procedures and policies.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to influence

  • 4 years’ experience in Telecom enterprise capital project management.

  • Proven proficiency to support networking technology and architecture in a large enterprise environment.

  • Experience running complex network/IT projects including tracking of budgetary conditions, work allocation, and time constraints.

  • Familiar in the use of network monitoring or other optimization tools including SolarWinds Orion, CiscoWorks, Netbrain, Wireshark, Riverbed Cascade, etc.

  • Experience with design, implementation and troubleshooting of Cisco ASA firewalls.

  • Team player with an ability to draw on the expertise and knowledge of team members to deliver the best solutions.

  • Experience maintaining a complex budget(s) covering several projects a year and deliver successful results.

  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.

  • Cisco CCNA/CCNP certification.

  • Able to adapt to and implement new technologies to meet constantly changing customer requirements.

  • Strong mentoring skills for providing career guidance and support to direct reports and junior technicians/engineers.

  • Strong time management and work prioritization skills.

  • Ability to maintain a productive local team with strong partnerships across organizational boundaries while generating trust and confidence

  • Knowledge of major networking technology to include: BGP, EIGRP, QoS, Cisco Unified Communications, VmWare, RF Theory, 2-way Radio, Switching, Spanning-Tree, etc.

  • Ensure network policy, controls, and procedures are maintained throughout team.

  • Ability to evaluate and identify opportunities for network performance and functionality improvements.
