As Alaska's largest oil and gas producer, the company produced an average 182 thousand barrels of oil 2017. ConocoPhillips operates the Kuparuk and Alpine oil fields on the North Slope. The company has an ownership interest in the Trans Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS) and owns/operates the Polar Tankers fleet.


The Kuparuk Fieldwide Safety and Health Coordinator position provides leadership and technical safety expertise in support of all ConocoPhillips North Slope oil and gas activities. This position will work a 2 weeks on/2 weeks off Slope-based work schedule.

Responsibilities may include:

Leading by example in our Incident Free Culture Consulting with other safety professionals to assure a consistent application of health and safety programs Interacting with medical clinics and other senior HSE positions to ensure proper and consistent classification of injuries and illnesses Actively engaging in the HSE compliance and management system audit process of North Slope contractors Working with on-site operations personnel in implementing ConocoPhillips HSE MS procedures Assisting contractors, where necessary, with implementation of ConocoPhillips HSE MS procedures Collaborating with company and contractor organizations to provide consistency/alignment with ConocoPhillips HSE goals and objectives Providing on-site assistance, guidance and mentoring to Slope-based operations safety specialists Assisting or leading, as needed, TapRooT® incident investigations. Participating in other investigations as requested. Provide final review of incident investigations Comprehensive understanding of ConocoPhillips HSE Procedures and the Alaska Safety Handbook to help drive verification assurance activities Participating in or leading internal/self HSE Compliance and Management system audits Anticipating and recommending corrections to actual and/or potential HSE deficiencies related to activities Generating and promoting ideas to improve HSE performance Performing duties of Incident Management Team role as Safety Officer and/or Liaison Officer by being knowledgeable of the IMT structure and computer software in the event of the Production Field IMT is mobilized Providing assistance in planning and conducting required emergency drills Actively supporting the Behavior-Based Safety process and identify ways to increase participation by facility personnel Building and maintaining a high level of visibility in day-to-day operations in an effort to promote / enhance safety rapport with operations/contractor personnel Spending at least 10% of their time verifying procedural and Life Saving Rules compliance Providing PSM support as a Subject Matter Expert Ensuring consistency in OSHA recordkeeping for ConocoPhillips and contractors Assisting in maintaining VPP Star Status for Kuparuk Providing support to Environmental, Industrial Hygiene and Medical staff as required Providing supplemental safety and health support for CPF2 and CPF3 Facilities and shutdowns Monitoring updates/changes to OSHA regulations to ensure ConocoPhillips HSE MS Procedures and programs meet regulatory requirements Qualifications: Basic/Required:

Legally authorized to work in the United States Bachelor's degree or higher in occupational safety or related field 10 years of HSE experience 5 years of experience as an HSE professional in the oil and gas industry Proficient in use of Microsoft Office tools


15 years of broad Health, Safety, and Environmental experience with exposure to program and process development, procedural verification, applying health & safety standards to field execution, auditing, drill planning and incident management, behavior-based safety programs, and incident classification & investigations Mentors, coaches and develops others to bring out their full potential Well-developed planning and organizational skills including the ability to work independently, prioritize activities, meet commitments, and proactively manage time and generally manage a heavy workload Certified Safety Professional Exceptional leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills Practical self-starter & can work effectively with minimal supervision Proven ability to interact within layers of internal & external organizations Builds strong relationships based on trust and seeks collaboration across organizational boundaries to achieve goals Delegates authority responsibly so others can deliver results and solve problems without fear Analyzes stakeholder needs, global, political, and market trends to understand how they shape the future and impact business results Drives thoughtful and pragmatic change, encourages innovative thinking and continuous improvement, and models adaptability through resourcefulness, flexibility and positivity
