Permian Basin Overview
ConocoPhillips and its heritage companies have operated in the Permian Basin for almost 100 years. Across New Mexico and Texas, the company holds conventional positions in the Northwest Shelf and Central Basin Platform, and an unconventional position in the Delaware Basin. Permian saw significant growth in 2021 with the acquisition of Concho Resources Inc. in January 2021 and the addition of Shell’s Permian acreage in December 2021. At year-end, the company held approximately 1.5 million net acres in the Permian Basin.
Net production for the Permian in 2022 was 461 MBOED.
Job Description
The Senior/Staff Reservoir Engineering Analyst on the Permian Planning team will be responsible for leading the maintenance, quality control, and enhancement of key databases used for business planning, outlooks, performance tracking, and analysis. They will work with IT, reservoir analysts and engineers to ensure that the data is accurate and up-to-date, and that the databases are able to meet the needs of the business. This individual will provide critical support to improve the efficiency of planning processes, tools, and engineering analysis.

Responsibilities may include:
Collaborate with asset teams, Reserves, and fellow analysts to update plans and maintain accurate reflection of asset development within multiple programs and systems
Serve as primary point of contact with software vendor and IT functions for support and enhancement of ValNav application and database within Permian BU
Maintain quality data in ValNav by performing quarterly and annual database operations such as cleansing, transformation, loading, security and archive processes
Develop and deploy ValNav training program and reference materials for Permian reservoir analysts, engineers, and other user groups
Maintain Permian ValNav user access permissions in compliance with internal security controls
Provide engineering support for Outlooks and LRP plan submissions to ensure complete, executable, and timely delivery of major outlooks and LRP submissions
Identify process improvement opportunities; transition manual workflows into automated streams using Python and/or no-code applications
Adapt to internally developed tool kits deployed in Spotfire, Excel, Power BI etc., providing maintenance and optimization if necessary
Assist in preparing operational performance reports and content for management presentations
Lead team calendar and documentation within shared folders and Teams site
Basic/Required:
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
7+ years of combined experience in upstream oil and gas
1+ years of experience with Aries, ValNav, Enersight, and/or other petroleum modeling and economics applications
Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft O365 applications: Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, and Word
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business, Engineering, or foreign equivalent
5+ years of industry experience as Engineering Technician / Analyst
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft O365 applications: Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams and Word
Experience with various industry databases and software (Spotfire, Aries, ValNav, Mosaic, OFM, ArcPro, Harmony, DSO, Enersight, Generwell, Wellview)
Demonstrates strong database management practices, recommends changes to improve processes, and implements data QA/QC methods
Consistent record in working with large databases applied across multi-functional teams
Takes ownership of actions and follows through on commitments by holding others accountable and standing up for what is right
Delivers positive results through realistic planning to accomplish goals
Builds effective solutions based on available information and makes timely decisions that are safe and ethical
