Southeastern New Mexico (SENM) Overview

ConocoPhillips SENM asset in the Great Plains Business Unit consists of three operating areas in Southeastern New Mexico currently producing over 5.8 MBOEPD. The asset consists of over 1,100 wells supported by 5 operated waterfloods and a CO2 reinjection/liquid recovery plant. SENM wells vary from shallow to deep producing formations and incorporate various types of artificial lift and induced recovery technology.

Description

The primary role of Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Technician is to provide operations with day-to-day troubleshooting and technical support for all instrument and electrical equipment within the SENM asset area. The position works closely with vendors, contractors, engineering, and operations in support of these field assets. The position will also be required to effectively work with other technicians within the systems group as well as direct and oversee contract electrical crews to complete tasks which they are assigned.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Follow all applicable regulatory guidelines and all safety policies and procedures

  • Perform all duties of this position with a focus on safety, environmental protection, and regulatory compliance

  • Perform installation, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of equipment

  • Perform and provide technical support for installations, calibrations, maintenance, and repairs of instrument and electrical equipment

  • Perform planned maintenance checks and calibrations and timely submits appropriate reports

  • Respond to SAP notifications and work orders

  • Minimizing downtime and unsafe conditions by performing preventative and predictive maintenance

  • Pursue cost reduction opportunities

  • Guide and schedule contract crews

  • Be on a rotating callout schedule which includes weekends, responding to callouts within 30 minutes

  • Driving teamwork throughout the area of responsibility

  • Actively involved in ConocoPhillips BBS and focused audit programs

  • Complete and maintain required safety/regulatory training, computer based training (CBT)

  • Maintaining current and accurate documentation of maintenance activities

  • Adhere to all safety, environmental, and company policies and procedures outlined in the ConocoPhillips Management System

Qualifications:

Basic/Required:

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States

  • Valid driver's license

  • 3 years of instrumentation and/or electrical experience

  • Willing and able to perform/comply with following (with or without reasonable accommodation):

  • Work at heights ranging up to 125 feet

  • Raise and transport articles weighing up to 50 pounds

  • Walk, stand, stoop, sit, climb, and carry material every single day on even and uneven terrain

  • Work outside in harsh weather conditions

  • Work alone a high percentage of the time

  • Travel 10-30% of the time

  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE)

  • Able to work under air (don SCBA)

  • Be clean-shaven

  • Be on a rotating on-call schedule, including weekends

  • Work unscheduled overtime as well as scheduled overtime

Preferred:

  • Associate's degree or higher in Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) or related degree field

  • 5 years of experience as an I&E technician in the oil and gas industry

  • Proficient (ability to perform tasks with little assistance) with Word, Excel & Power Point

  • Proficient in API, NFPA, NEC, and OSHA as it pertains to the I&E field

  • Understands SCADA & radio systems

  • Maintain high level of technical knowledge around instrument and electrical equipment

  • Previous experience of technical knowledge and training to maintain instrument and electrical equipment

  • Previous experience working with electronics --- both digital and analog circuitry including drawings and schematics

  • Ability to self-start and work alone, as well as work within a team setting

  • Ability to communicate with other technicians and share technical insights

  • Ability to communicate optimization efforts with supervisor

  • Ability to adjust quickly to unexpected conditions

  • Ability to follow verbal and/or written instructions

  • Extensive planning & organizational skills

  • Effective oral & written communication skills

  • Strong teammate with the ability to work safely and manage a very diverse workload

  • Demonstrates creative thought process and analytical skills
