Eagle Ford Overview

ConocoPhillips' acreage is located in the sweet spot of the Eagle Ford tight oil trend, located in the Western Gulf Basin of South Texas. The company was one of the first to enter the play in 2009, and by year-end 2018 held approximately 200,000 net leasehold and mineral acres, primarily in DeWitt, Karnes and Live Oak counties. Since field inception, ConocoPhillips has produced more than 300 million barrels of oil equivalent from the field and continues to build the Eagle Ford into a legacy asset with production expected for years to come. In 2018, net production from the Eagle Ford averaged 186 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day, with about 80 percent of the production coming from liquids.


If you are selected as the Stabilizer I&E Technician, your primary role is to provide the operations departments with day-to-day troubleshooting and support for distributed control system (DCS) hardware, communications, and related software, and insuring the reliability of the instrumentation & electrical (I&E) equipment within the stabilizer facilities. You will work closely with vendors, contractors, engineering, and operations field staff on the direct support of all aspects the DCS and the associated field equipment. You will also be required to effectively guide and mentor a diverse work force in a manner that promotes team building.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Follow all applicable regulatory guidelines and all safety policies and procedures

  • Performing all duties of this position with a focus on safety, environmental protection and regulatory compliance

  • Performing installations, calibrations, maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment

  • Performing and providing technical support for installations, calibrations, maintenance, and repairs of instrument and electrical equipment.

  • Performing planned maintenance checks and calibration and timely submits appropriate reports

  • Building and responding to SAP notifications and process work orders

  • Maintaining current and accurate documentation of maintenance activities

  • Working with process safety management (PSM) coordinator and operations personnel in planning and developing preventative maintenance (PM) procedures for various equipment

  • Maintaining technical and administrative records, including prints and project reports

  • Minimizing downtime and unsafe conditions by performing preventative and predictive maintenance

  • Initiating management of change requests for proposed changes to equipment, instrumentation, and programs

  • Assisting supervisors in changing technology and budget requirements

  • Pursuing cost reduction opportunities

  • Mentoring, guiding, and scheduling company and contractor employees

  • Be on call, responding to emergencies and maintain emergency response preparedness

  • Driving collaboration throughout the area of responsibility

  • Supervising, directing and training contract crews

  • Active involvement in safety action plans

  • Completing and maintaining required safety/regulatory training, computer based training (CBT)

  • At times will be required to assist other departments and perform work not related to I&E duties



  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or national, or an alien admitted as permanent resident, refugee or asylee

  • Associate's degree or higher in Applied Science or related field or foreign equivalent

  • Valid driver's license

  • Proficient (ability to perform tasks with little assistance) with Word, Excel & PowerPoint

  • Willing and able to perform/align with following (with or without reasonable accommodation):

  • Climb various ladders and stairs, ranging up to 50 feet in height, to perform maintenance on equipment

  • Raise and transport items weighing up to 50 pounds

  • Walk, stand, stoop, sit, climb, and carry material every single day on even and uneven terrain

  • Work outside in harsh weather conditions

  • Work alone a high percentage of the time

  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE)

  • Be on call

  • Work unscheduled overtime


  • 5 years experience working in a process safety management (PSM) covered facility

  • 3 years experience in a related field

  • Experience with installing, troubling shooting, and programming of distributed control system (DCS), programmable logic controllers (PLCs), SCADA, or flow computer equipment

  • Experience in electrical motors and control with voltages up to 480 volts AC

  • Ability to read and interpret Schematics and piping and instrumentation diagram (P&IDs)

  • Proficient in proportional integral derivative (PID) controls

  • Proficient in API, NFPA, NEC, and OSHA CFR 29 1910 Subpart S

  • Knowledgeable application of the National Electrical Code (NEC/NFPA 70)

  • Knowledgeable of primary and secondary electrical distribution systems

  • Contains high level of technical knowledge around instrument and electrical equipment

  • Ability to self-start and work alone, as well as work within a team setting

  • Ability to adjust quickly to unexpected conditions

  • Ability to communicate optimization efforts with supervisor

  • Demonstrates creative thought process and analytical skills

  • People development skills with the ability to train others

  • Strong teammate with the ability to work safely and manage a very diverse workload
