The Data Integration and Analytics Team is accountable or responsible for:
Establishing long term ownership of Subsurface data and overarching petrotechnical data curation and stewardship
The creation and implementation of a sustainable environment allowing for discovery, awareness, and seamless access to dependable data across the petrotechnical toolkit
The development and validation of the Petrotechnical Data Management and Analytics Strategy and transition to the desired Data Analytics future state
Elevating awareness and communication of data analytics issues and efforts and effective knowledge sharing within and outside the organization
Building the means to manage the data analytics toolkit and workflows
A key component of both the ConocoPhillips’ and Exploration's Data Analytics Strategies is Full Data Utilization. The Subsurface Data Specialist ensures all subsurface data are easily discoverable, accessible, and trustworthy and thereby improves the performance and productivity of the organization. Partnering with the Exploration and IT, the Subsurface Data Specialist will establish and oversee processes to manage subsurface data including receipt, QC and accuracy, storage, access, and archival of data. Additionally, they will be accountable for the development and implementation of governances and best practices to ensure uptake and sustainability of the data management solutions. This role will be accountable for global corporate subsurface data repositories and will advise, align, and collaborate with the efforts in support of interpretation project datastores.
Your responsibilities may include:
Point of Contact for Exploration subsurface data management and liaise between Exploration and partners including IT and external vendors
Establishment and maintenance of processes to ensure alignment with Exploration data requirements and proactive pursuit of improvements and solutions
Accountable for the creation, maintenance, implementation, and compliance of subsurface data management processes, governances, and support models to ensure data access, quality, and accuracy
Evaluate, recommend, and promote tools, methodologies, and best practices for managing subsurface data
Ensure data flows are well understood and implemented, metadata are accurately populated, data are kept current, and outdated or redundant data are properly disposed of
Ensure data security and access are fit for purpose and enforced and data restrictions and obligations are well understood and followed
Networking globally to develop and share subsurface data management best practices
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or national, or an alien admitted as permanent resident, refugee or asylee
Master’s degree or higher in Geoscience, Engineering, related discipline, or foreign equivalent
5 years of experience in subsurface exploration and characterization
Intermediate understanding of subsurface exploration and characterization workflows, key products, and deliverables
Intermediate understanding of various subsurface data types including seismic, wellbore, geochem, PVT, drilling, production, etc. and how these data are utilized and validated for accuracy
Intermediate understanding of primary vendor curated data including IHS, WoodMac, and DrillingInfo and how the data are accessed and utilized
Experience with Petrel, ArcGIS, and other petrotechnical tools
Exposure to data storage models and technologies such as OSDU, Teradata, and Cloud storage
Familiarity with data licensing contracts and licensed data rights and obligations
Collaborative attitude and ability to work across Exploration and IT disciplines (regionally and global)
