The Project Engineer will be part of the GCBU Projects Organization and will report to the GCBU Execution Engineer Supervisor. Eagle Ford is a growing and dynamic asset area in South Texas with numerous infrastructure upgrades and expansions planned for the coming years. This position will provide project management and engineering support for capital projects up to $50MM involving a broad range of new builds and facilities/infrastructure expansions and modifications. The position has excellent exposure to a variety of engineering and technical challenges that surround production field equipment as well as other functions and organizations.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Point of contact for all aspects of the project, including design, funding, planning and execution. Work closely with Project Controls to conduct periodic project updates, and perform post audits of projects

  • Accountable to direct the integration of project teams to successfully execute major projects in Eagle Ford through their life cycle

  • Responsible to effectively plan, manage the design, procurement, construction, and start-up of the project’s scope and deliver the project objectives that support the business opportunity pursued

  • Accountable for all project deliverables as per ConocoPhillips' project management standards, procedures and recommended practices

  • Ensure effective team alignment and communication

  • Provide routine project progress and performance reporting to key stakeholders

  • Work closely with Development Engineering to support Front end loading, concept selection and definition (FEL1/FEL2)

  • Work closely with Projects teams to manage project performance status in cost controls, schedule, risk management and HSE

  • Work closely with the Discipline Engineer Lead to define projects scope of work, conduct process simulations, hydraulic and studies in support of concept selection, optimization and later on, detail engineering

  • Oversight of 3rd party contractors

  • Interface with construction and operations groups to ensure sound constructability, operability and change management

  • Work with Supply Chain to coordinate sourcing and bidding of equipment and labor if necessary

  • Direct the compilation of project engineering packages

  • Interface with the Eagle Ford Quality group to ensure proper engineering standards are set and communicated and that a QA/QC program is in place

  • Mentor other less experienced engineers and help steward functional excellence in project engineering and management



  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering

  • 5 years of direct experience in facility engineering or project management supporting upstream oil and gas operations

  • Valid driver's license

  • Willing and able to travel to field locations, vendor locations and other office locations up to 25% of the time


  • Legally authorized to work in the United States

  • 10 years of direct experience in upstream oil and gas facility design, construction/installation, operation, and optimization

  • Ability to manage multiple projects

  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills

  • Familiarity with ConocoPhillips CPMS principles and general project management fundamentals

  • Experience with the use of Industry Codes, Standards, and Recommended Practices

  • Direct experience supervising the work of contract resources

  • Application of net cash flow economics

  • Working knowledge of scheduling programs (MS Project or Primavera) is advantageous

  • Experience in field operations, including onshore gas and condensate production facilities

  • Understanding of process from well facilities, central facilities to delivery points

  • Good understanding of risks and risks management

  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
