The Project Manager is accountable to the Project Sponsor for all matters related to the assigned project. They have single-point accountability for defining and crafting a project solution which will meet the expectations of the business and ensure realization of the benefits articulated in the business case.

If you are selected as the IT Project Manager, you will be encouraged to have high levels of knowledge and experience in blending waterfall project management principles and practices with an Agile approach in the right proportions to fit large, complex, critical, enterprise-level projects with the appropriate level of planning and provide the right balance of agility and predictability.

This position can be based in Houston, TX or Bartlesville, OK.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Accountable to the project sponsor, project owner and steering team to deliver the project and individual projects within approved schedule, cost and quality while using the ConocoPhillips IT approved processes and methodology

  • Accountable to mitigate projects risks within the project team and escalate when necessary

  • Ensures all change management processes are followed and handles all project communications

  • Ensures organizational readiness before project “go lives”

  • Handles and communicates clear project metrics and progress reports

  • Forecasts and handles resource requirements and assignments working with functional supervisors to ensure the right subject matter experts are available and assigned to the projects

  • Directs and motivates the project team

  • Reports projects’ progress to ensure the business case is delivered

  • Tracks all project achievements/deliverables & expenditures and reports against the budget

  • Ensures quality metrics are met

  • Handles all integration partners

  • Identifies and handles risks

  • Responsible for scope management

  • Ensures all business, IT and security standards are met

  • Responsible for the overall project completion and documentation of the lessons learned report

  • Runs the project spend and provides monthly re-forecast estimates and emphasizes the importance of cost control with all project managers assigned to the project




  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or national, or an alien admitted as permanent resident, refugee or asylee

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Business Admin/Mgmt, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, other related business discipline, other related technical discipline or foreign equivalent

  • 10 years of Information Technology experience with service delivery and/or operations

  • 5 years of project management experience (Planning; Organization; Estimating; Directing; Tracking; Controlling; Analyzing; Forecasting; Issues and Risk Management)

  • 1 years of experience leading Agile teams with multiple enterprise-level scrum projects and utilization of Agile tools (e.g. Azure Dev Ops)

  • Advanced knowledge with interpreting technical requirements


  • Previous project management experience with a large-scale application project ($5MM project with 2 year timeline)

  • PMP Certification

  • CSM Certification

  • Previous ConocoPhillips IT technical or project management experience

  • Hands-on technical application experience to provide guidance to IT solutions analyst and technical architect

  • Experience establishing team and management level dashboards (e.g. Burndown charts)

  • Proven ability to deliver commitments on schedule & within budget and meeting quality acceptance criteria

  • Demonstrated expertise with guiding teams through estimating and planning

  • Contingent worker management experience

  • Demonstrated ability to work through complex issues and problems to reach alignment

  • Ability to handle and mitigate risks

  • Understanding of all internal and external governing regulations, policies and procedures

  • Good communication/interpersonal skills for interacting with managers and staff levels

  • Vendor management experience with understanding of ConocoPhillips procurement processes

  • Proficient in the use of O365 suite of products

  • Takes ownership of actions and follows through on commitments by holding others accountable and standing up for what's right

  • Delivers positive results through realistic planning to accomplish goals

  • Builds effective solutions based on available information and makes timely decisions that are safe and ethical
