Position Summary

Current internship positions are available in our Alaska, E&P, L48 and Global Projects organizations.

Our internships provide opportunities to learn and apply engineering skills. Successful candidates will receive diversified training through on-the-job assignments using the technical skills acquired in college. Assigned projects will develop the interns both technically and professionally. Each intern will be assigned a technical mentor and supervisor to ensure a productive and engaging assignment.

Interns are typically matched to one of the Upstream disciplines including Reservoir, Production, Facilities, Drilling, Completions, Project or Electrical Engineering. Within that discipline, the intern will be responsible for completing one or more projects during the summer. As an example, past projects have included developing improved forecasting techniques for unconventional reservoirs, artificial lift optimization, facility design modifications to improve air quality, drill bit design/selection, sand production mitigation and infrastructure benchmarking. The intern will work within established engineering and/or operations teams.

The Alaska, E&P, L48 Engineering internship assignment locations will vary based on Phase 1 and Phase 2 internships.

  • Phase 1 Internships are for students with two or more summers remaining before graduation. Assignment locations include Anchorage Alaska, Kenedy, Texas, Dickinson, North Dakota, Watkins Colorado and the Permian Basin (Loving, Goldsmith)

  • Phase 2 Internships are for students with one summer remaining before graduation. Assigned projects are typically based in Houston, Texas or Anchorage, Alaska

The Global Projects Engineering internship assignments will be located in Houston, TX.

The preferred internship duration is 12 to 13 weeks with a 10-week minimum requirement.

  • Must be legallyauthorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or national, or analien admitted as permanent resident, refugee or asylee and will not need sponsorship now or inthe future

  • Pursuing aBachelor's degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering,Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering or Construction Management or foreign equivalent

  • Currentlevel in college: Freshman through Senior or Graduate Student

  • Expectedgraduation date: Fall 2020 through Spring/Fall 2023

  • A minimumof ten (10) continuous weeks availability for internship


  • A minimumcumulative and major GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

  • Previousinternships or co-ops in an energy related field

  • Proficientin Microsoft Office Suite

  • Developsstrong relationships based on trust and seeks opportunities to collaborateacross the matrix/organizational boundaries to achieve business goals

  • Demonstratestaking ownership of actions and follows through on commitments by courageouslydealing with important problems, holding others accountable and standing up forwhat is right

  • Demonstrates anunderstanding of how key financial and quantitative indicators impact thebusiness
