Job Summary:
Geoscientists have the potential to make huge impacts on the company's success by contributing to the discovery of oil or gas fields and by enhancing the development of existing fields. Remaining global reserves will be complex and challenging to exploit and will require creative problem-solvers who have the passion and skills to address complex business needs.
At ConocoPhillips, geoscientists have the opportunity to use leading-edge software and techniques to synthesize diverse types of subsurface data into innovative concepts that aid in the discovery and production of hydrocarbons. Geoscientists collaborate with team members from diverse disciplines, including engineers, land professionals, and economists, to make strategic business decisions.
Full-time positions are available in Exploration & Production (E&P). Assignments will typically be at one of our sites located in Alaska or Texas.
Job Description:
Responsibilities may include:
Interpreting geoscience and related data, such as well logs, seismic data, cores, and geochemical data, to help explore for or develop hydrocarbons for production
Applying geoscience interpretations to predict the chance of success and potential size of projects ranging from frontier exploration to field development in a variety of global locations
Guiding programs such as drilling, formation evaluation, seismic data acquisition and processing
Development and recompletion opportunities in various conventional and unconventional resource plays
Unconventional facies and rock type modeling for hydraulic fracturing analysis
Partnering with other disciplines within the company to provide geoscience input impacting business decisions
Representing the company while working with partners and government representatives
Basic/Required:
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer and/or education institution
Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geophysics, Engineering or closely related technical field or foreign equivalent
Master's degree or higher in Geology, Geophysics, Engineering or a closely related technical field or foreign equivalent
Current level in college: Graduate Student
Expected graduation date: Fall 2023 through Spring/Fall 2024
Preferred:
Willing to work in either of these locations: Anchorage, Alaska or Midland or Houston, Texas
A minimum cumulative and major GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale
Previous internships or co-op's in an energy related field
Either geophysical focus with strong geological skills, or geological focus with strong analytical/quantitative skills
Personal drive for geological or geophysical technical excellence
Ability to generate effective solutions based on available information and makes timely decisions that are safe and ethical
Develops strong relationships based on trust and seeks opportunities to collaborate across the matrix/organizational boundaries to achieve business goals
