Great Plains Overview

ConocoPhillips Great Plains business unit covers operations in the Permian and Bakken as well as the company’s interests in Wyoming, Utah, and the Anadarko Basin in Oklahoma. This diverse group of assets spans unconventional and conventional assets, as well as the company’s Lost Cabin Gas Plant. Combined, net production from the assets was 203 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2019.


If you are selected as the Administrative Assistant, you will provide support to the Vice President, Great Plains Business Unit (GPBU) for Lower 48 (L48). You will work closely with the Vice President, GPBU to perform the highest level of administrative duties, working independently and proactively on numerous complex administrative tasks, exercising utmost discretion and independent judgment on a consistent basis.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Managing the Vice President's calendar so time is used effectively and efficiently - including planning work projects and scheduling of appointments with personnel inside and outside ConocoPhillips, including members of the Executive Leadership Team, Lower 48 Leadership Team, GPBU Leadership Team, global business units (BUs), and other internal and external meetings

  • Understanding the Vice President’s plans and objectives, reading and interpreting activities and proactively anticipating opportunities that assist in meeting the plans and objectives across several time zones

  • Coordinating all office and administrative support duties including answering the telephone, advising calls to others as appropriate, planning for visitors, expense reports, timekeeping, invoice processing and coding, record management, employee recognition and other corporate administrative needs

  • Ensuring the Vice President is prepared for all meetings and has the appropriate materials to be reviewed in advance of meetings

  • Preparing, coordinating, and managing travel plans for the Vice President including: Understanding the purpose of the trips so that arrangements can be made to optimize their time in meeting with managers, employees, and outside companies

  • Understanding corporate travel policy; passport and visa requirements, travel advisories and required immunizations for international travel

  • Maintaining regular contact with the Vice President during travel periods to communicate and initiate appropriate travel changes and advise of other issues requiring attention

  • Maintain meeting minutes and notes, prepare special reports as requested; including extracting and sorting data in excel; crafting and editing presentations in PowerPoint, document formatting and editing in Word and Adobe

  • Retention of information on key contacts, upcoming activities, and projects

  • Maintaining SharePoint/Microsoft Teams information and Outlook distribution lists

  • Planning business lunches, dinners, and events within budget guidelines and with minimal mentorship

  • Coordinating with other Administrative Assistants in the L48 for planning meetings and implementing region activities

  • Coordinating with facilities management to ensure maximum reliability of office hardware (printers/copiers, etc.)

  • Attending CMER training on historian responsibilities and serve as one of the BU historians during times of crisis or incident management

  • Acting as a backup to the administrative assistants supporting the GPBU Managers and Executive Administrator as required

  • Providing input and feedback to the Vice President when needed



  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or national, or an alien admitted as permanent resident, refugee or asylee

  • 5 years of experience in an administrative support role

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe, Microsoft Teams


  • Experience handling confidential information with the utmost discretion

  • Experience organizing and prioritize numerous tasks, calendars, multitasking, and working under pressure within timelines, with limited direction

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

  • Track record as a highly inventive teammate; well-mannered and respectful of others, with the ability to also be extremely effective independently

  • Willingness to engage in additional training as appropriate

  • Builds/maintains effective working relationships
