The Commercial - Global Crude Oil & NGL's team is seeking a Director, Global Commercial Measurement and Loss Control.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Commercial & Technical

  • Arrange, review, and distribute crude oil assays

  • Maintain ConocoPhillips’ Haverly crude oil assay system

  • Marine: review inspection reports, investigate anomalies or discrepancies

  • Rail: Measurement and crude quality support

  • Minimize risk to ConocoPhillips product transport by developing/ maintaining/ and reviewing the technical language in all Commercial contracts

  • Provide technical reviews for projects globally that impact Commercial Marketing

  • Expert for APLNG calculations and measurement processes in contracts

  • Maintain processes for elimination of measurement losses in global product cargoes and movements.

  • Advocate for the use of custody transfer measurement Best Practices/Procedures

  • Focal point for ConocoPhillips Inspection Nomination System (CINS)

  • Resolve/issue claims for lost product quantity and quality

  • Authorize the write-off of losses against Commercial Accounting Book-to-Physical

  • Management & Leadership

  • Maintain Loss metrics by grade and transport method for all ConocoPhillips Marketing products globally

  • Establish goals and a budget annually for Global measurement and Loss control

  • Maintain working relationship with other ConocoPhillips departments and ensure a consistent set of standards for measurement throughout the company

  • Coach Marketers, Schedulers, and support staff on technical subjects related to quality, additives, inspections, measurement, custody points, etc.

  • External

  • Participate in Industry subject matter groups to understand, communicate, and resolve issues

  • Negotiate and maintain global Inspection and Laboratory contracts

  • Interact with federal and state regulatory agencies to understand and/or influence new regulations

  • Authorize the release of technical data from ConocoPhillips (Delegate of Chief Technology Officer)

  • Emergency Response

  • Mediate emergency scenarios when required

  • Preparedness to be on call 24/7



  • Legally authorized to work in the United States

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, business or related field

  • 5 years of marine experience

  • Intermediate level experience in loss control with petroleum liquids, production, marketing, and transport


  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemical Engineering

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral)

  • High degree of collaborative skills

  • Strong coordination and organizational skills

  • Ability to grasp new analytical concepts quickly and applies knowledge to solve complex problems

  • Able to adapt to rapidly changing work environments and priorities

  • High degree of initiative and ability to work both independently, as part of a team, or in a leadership role

  • Advanced knowledge of Marine Measurement and Loss Control

  • Leadership skills to negotiate and influence customers and industry groups

  • Verbal skills to explain highly technical concepts to non-technical people

  • Generates effective solutions based on available information and makes timely decisions that are safe and ethical

  • Listens actively and invites dialogue for shared understanding, then influences and acts to drive performance and achieve results
