Description:

This position is responsible for various aspects of the Commercial Marine business including the management of voyage related logistics and fuel requirements for owned and chartered vessels worldwide, processing of demurrage claims and the evaluation of marine components of projects and commercial undertakings. The Operations Coordinator provides the primary interface with vessel, vessel owners/operators, terminals, vessel and cargo support services and bunker suppliers. The Operations Coordinator works closely with members of the Commercial team to optimize operations and maximize value for the company.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage voyage related logistics for owned and chartered fleets worldwide with special focus on cost and schedule optimization.

  • Work closely with Polar Tankers Operations and the Commercial teams to develop and adjust schedules to minimize risk, promote efficiency, optimize cost and meet commercial requirements.

  • Act as primary point of contact (24/7) for initial incident reporting on assigned equipment.

  • Utilize the commercial marine operation systems and applications (e.g. IMOS and/or others) to manage voyages and demurrage.

  • Process AP/AR documentation for assigned equipment and voyages under management on a timely and accurate manner and in accordance with approved processes.

  • Collaborate with other businesses and within Global Marine to develop, implement/change and continuously improve global documentation, processes and systems.

  • Evaluate and provide recommendations, from the commercial marine perspective, in support of projects and commercial undertakings.

  • Analyze, on timely basis, voyage information and determine demurrage obligations of the parties and process demurrage claims to minimize demurrage payments and maximize receivables.

  • Work in collaboration with Polar Tankers operations to manage and optimize marine fuel requirements and purchases.

  • Closely monitor relevant marine fuel markets and provide estimates and forecasts to be used as basis for budgets and long-term plans.

  • Lead tenders for the acquisition of marine fuel and acquire fuel on spot basis when cost efficient.

  • Ensure that vessels have the proper approvals and documentation to operate in the regions/ports the vessels are ordered to safely and ensure adequate communication between vessels, terminals and agents for on time port operations.

  • Provide back up and vacation relief to the Operations Senior Advisors.

Qualifications:

Basic/Required:

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Marine Operations or other Marine related discipline

  • 3 years of direct experience working with Commercial Marine business processes.

  • Advanced level of knowledge of marine contracts, demurrage, practices and procedures

  • 1 years of experience utilizing Integrated Marine Operating System (IMOS).

Preferred:

  • Strong negotiation, planning, analytical and organizational skills.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills with preference for action, accountability, and developing alternatives and solutions.

  • Firm understanding of marine risk and the company’s exposure to marine liability.

  • Actively communicates and takes time to safely perform work to protect our people and environment

  • Responds resourcefully, flexibly and positively when faced with challenges and demands

  • Consistently demonstrates high integrity, behaves ethically, and follow through on commitments
