Description

ConocoPhillips Aviation Advisors comprise of a team of highly skilled, knowledgeable, aviation professionals supporting the Company’s global aviation activities. You will assume the duties of a technical advisor in aviation matters in all aspects of air and ground aviation operations. You will assist the Global Aviation Services Manager in the safe and efficient completion of worldwide air operations.

The Aviation Advisor will monitor standards and safety for aircraft operations, provide advice to ConocoPhillips business units, its subsidiaries and joint venture partners. He/she will assess compliance with the established standards and measure the safety performance of aviation operations contracted to ConocoPhillips through established key performance indicators.

The Aviation Advisor is a member of the Global Aviation Services leadership team and will play a central role in developing corporate strategies around worldwide fixed-wing, helicopter and Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) operations. The ability to communicate openly and effectively with knowledge and candor is essential to successfully managing our worldwide aviation portfolio. Duties will be coordinated from ConocoPhillips’ Houston-based facility and will require extensive travel, some of which could be short-notice.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Provides aviation technical advisory services to ConocoPhillips global businesses and joint venture partners as determined by the Global Aviation Manager

  • Continuous monitoring of contracted aviation service providers in the assigned region for compliance to ConocoPhillips aviation management practice, IOGP recommended guidelines and contract requirements

  • Design, development of, and participation in Company accident prevention, emergency response plan, aviation security programs, safety management systems and evacuation plans

  • Provide business units with technical evaluation/advice of domestic and International aviation operators and contract requirements

  • Monitor technical reports on delays, MEL releases, RTB’s and operator incident

  • Respond as necessary to any part of the ConocoPhillips Global business to support other team members in an emergency response, and/or other directed projects

  • Ensures necessary aviation management system support processes are set up, implemented and kept updated

  • Acquires, produces/develops, and/or distributes relevant documents pertaining to aviation functions within the Company

  • Assists with Air Operator reviews conducted by Global Aviation Services

  • Implements measures aimed at improving specific performance and manages the processes pertaining to the execution of corrective and proactive actions based on Air Operator performance (KPI’s)

  • Review Air Operator records to assure they meet requirements for personnel, aircraft and operating procedures required by ConocoPhillips

  • Conduct Air Operator safety and compliance reviews as assigned by the Global Aviation Manager

  • Assure Air Operator has all required operational plans available which are required by ConocoPhillips

  • Assist with design and construction of Company airports and Heliports

  • Perform quality and safety reviews of Company airports, airstrips and offshore helidecks

  • Design, develop and monitor Company’s UAS programs

  • Design and present hearts and minds presentations to Company workforce

  • Develop strong aircraft OEM relationships with aircraft manufacturers of types used by Company

  • Participate and contribute expertise in industry quality and safety organizations

Qualifications:

Basic/Required:

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States

  • 10 years of experience in the field of Aviation Safety that includes Quality Assurance and Operational Planning tasks

  • 10 years of successful, practical experience exercising certificate privileges of Airframe and Powerplant or Airline Transport Pilot License

  • 1 years of experience with remote/offshore flight operations

  • Current Airframe and Powerplant or Airline Transport Pilot License

  • Intermediate level of knowledge in national civil aviation administration regulations

  • Expert level of knowledge in both fixed and rotary wing operations

  • Able to pass an offshore physical and complete BOISET and HUET training

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related technical discipline or foreign equivalent

  • Proficient in technical report writing

  • Working knowledge of international legislation as it relates to air transportation

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to brief senior managers

  • Working knowledge of aviation security measures

  • Proficient with current aviation safety technology

  • Proficient in computer applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Experience with air operations in Arctic, Tropical, Northern and Southern hemisphere

  • Incident and emergency response leadership experience

  • Ability to read and understand technical and engineering diagrams and text

  • Leadership; must be able to coach and teach others about aviation operations, internal and external to the Company

  • Ability to partner with others in building a team working relationship in a diverse work environment. Must demonstrate mutual respect for others

  • Analytical and decision-making skills to assess and advise on key issues in complex and ambiguous situations

  • Ability to lead innovative breakthroughs as well as incremental solutions for aviation challenges

  • Disciplined in project delivery, efficient in decision-making, accountable for decisions relating to aviation operations, reliable on a 24/7 basis
