The Advisor, International & Corporate Functions Communications, is a key member of the Business Communications team, which is part of the Corporate Relations organization. This role will have accountability for leading corporate communications for the company’s international business units, including Canada, Colombia, Europe & North Africa and Asia Pacific & Middle East. The advisor will provide essential communications counsel to leaders and drive internal and external communications strategies and tactics for the Finance, Technology and other functions. The advisor will also serve as a crisis responder.

The role requires significant levels of self-management, content development and interaction with all levels of the organization. The successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in areas such as external communications, media relations, project management, crisis response, leadership communications and employee engagement to ensure the communications support business priorities and align with the company’s strategy.

Reporting to the Business Communications Director, this role will work closely with global communicators and colleagues within the Investor Relations & Communications team in the Corporate Relations organization. He/she will collaborate with Media Relations & Crisis Communications, Government Affairs/Public Policy/Sustainable Development Communications, Investor Relations, Community Relations, Digital & Social Media, Employee Communications and HR Communications to ensure consistent voice and messaging.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Develop, implement and measure holistic communications plans, including communications campaigns around targeted issues

  • Anticipate and monitor industry and business issues to recommend and implement communications strategies

  • Develop and execute communications materials, including presentations, news releases, responses to questions, key messages and town halls

  • Partner with functional leaders to drive internal communications strategies and plans that engage employees and promote understanding of the company’s strategy and values

  • Serve as the liaison between global communicators and international government affairs

  • Act as a member Investor Relations & Communications crisis response team; support global communicators during response efforts

  • Handle media inquiries, issue news releases and provide strategic counsel and support to senior leaders regarding media

  • Work with the Digital & Social Media team to develop and leverage content on internal and external channels

  • Manage complex communications issues to produce timely and measurable results



  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or national, or an alien admitted as permanent resident, refugee or asylee

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in communications, public relations or related discipline or foreign equivalent

  • 7 years of experience in business communications, media relations, crisis communications or related field

  • Expert knowledge in communications skills, including writing, proofreading and editing abilities

  • Expert proficiency with AP style

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office


  • 7 years of experience in an oil and gas environment

  • Experience working directly with senior leaders

  • Knowledge of oil and gas industry terminology

  • Self-starter, able to work autonomously

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and sustain relationships and influence at all levels of the organization

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Delivers results through realistic planning to accomplish goals

  • Listens actively and invites new ideas for exchanged opinions, then influences and acts to drive positive performance and achieve results
