As a member of the Field O&M Leadership team, this role owns the day to day activities of the Bakken Electrical and Instrumentation teams to ensure asset facilities’ equipment and machinery function safely and efficiently.

The I&E Supervisor is responsible for directing, supervising, and ensuring training of front line Electrical and Instrumentation personnel (employee and contact staff) in the repair and maintenance of field electrical and instrumentation/controls equipment within budget, and with available resources, and with the objective of meeting the goals of the business unit.

This is a professional position and is a “Lead” role within the organization; the selected candidate must be a Safety Leader and drive ConocoPhillips core values.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Daily direction and priority task focus for instrument and electrical work execution in support of operations and project activities

  • Engage instrument and electrical staff in, and support application of, Operations Excellence including assessments, and strategic improvement plans

  • Involved in maintaining and applying ConocoPhillips design criteria, specifications.

  • Involved in applying industry recognized standards

  • Assist in the development of project's instrumentation and control basis of design

  • Ensures consistency of design with CPAI Automation requirements

  • Participates in P&ID and other instrument and control drawing reviews

  • Participates in process hazard analysis and safeguard evaluations

  • Coordinate instrumentation and controls installation

  • Assists in evaluation of RFQ's and vendor proposals for major equipment

  • Review Safety Instrumented Systems design

  • Participates in the project risk management process

  • Assists in factory acceptance testing and field inspections

  • Participates in commissioning plans and activities

  • Helps prepare quality assurance/quality control programs and plans

  • Involved in contractor selection/evaluation



  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or national, or an alien admitted as permanent resident, refugee or asylee

  • 5 years of experience in the oil and gas industry

  • Advanced level of proficiency with electrical systems, automation controls, SCADA systems, and instrumentation and controls

  • Valid driver's license

  • Willing and able (with or without a reasonable accommodation) to travel 25% of the time on an annual basis


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or foreign equivalent

  • Technical training, or equivalent operations and maintenance experience

  • 10 years of industry experience with international and/or domestic exposure

  • 5 years of supervisory experience

  • Maintenance, Operations or Reliability Engineering background with experience in a range of asset types, cultures and operation and development of a large operation

  • Previous large asset / major field or facility experience

  • Extensive operational, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance experience in industrial low and medium voltage electrical systems, VFD’s, UPS’s, Battery systems, EHT systems

  • Extensive operational, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance experience in, PLC’s, basic and advanced electronic instrumentation and oil and gas measurement and control devices

  • Experience and understanding of maintaining operations and mitigation of cold weather impacts on process and production

  • Listens actively and invites new ideas for shared understanding, then influences and acts to drive positive performance and achieve results

  • Builds positive relationships based on trust and seeks collaboration across organizational boundaries to achieve goals

  • Takes an active role in acquiring, developing and retaining a high-performing, highly engaged team
