Great Plains Business Unit Overview
ConocoPhillips Great Plains Business Unit (GPBU) covers operations in the Permian, Bakken and Niobrara as well as the company’s interests in Wyoming, Utah, and the Anadarko Basin in Oklahoma. This diverse group of assets spans unconventional and conventional assets, as well as the company’s Lost Cabin Gas Plant. Combined, net production from the assets was 193 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2018.
As the GPBU Health, Safety, & Environment (HSE) North Supervisor you will partner with Operations and Capital Projects functions in the Bakken, Niobrara, Bronco Pipeline, and Anadarko Assets to drive safety & occupational health activities for Lower 48 to support a positive HSE performance.
Responsibilities may include:
Coaching, mentoring, and supervising a team of field HSE Specialists to support the Bakken, Niobrara, and Anadarko assets with expectations of high performance and accountability while proactively modeling the right behaviors
Stabilizing workload and team competencies while building an organization that actively develops, retains and identifies high-performing, highly engaged people
Partnering with operations and capital project leaders, superintendents and others in the field to advanced Safety and Occupational Health (S&OH) performance across the assets and develop programs to succeed in complex conditions
Promoting high standards of S&OH risk management and enable operational ‘line management’ ownership and engagement in S&OH programs, and HSE Management System implementation
Collaborating with HSER leaders to ensure consistency in support to stakeholders
Promoting a positive HSE and learning culture and strengthen workforce understanding of occupational and process safety hazards, and critical controls
Leading full implementation of Health, Safety, Environment and Regulatory (HSE&R) programs and procedures throughout the workforce - employees and contractors
Implementing safety development programs for employees and contract personnel as well as industrial hygiene programs that includes long-term plans and sampling activities
Providing leadership, coordination, technical and governance support for the incident reporting, risk ranking, and investigation process, ensuring compliance, quality outcomes, shared learning and continuous improvement
Providing monthly, quarterly and annual HSE&R metrics, as necessary, to inform asset and functional management of performance trends and to Business Unit (BU) resources for compilation into broader BU metrics
Ensuring a constant state of emergency preparedness for the asset and assuring that personnel are competent to undertake their assigned Tier 1 IMT roles and responsibilities
Supporting Corporate audit and BU assessment programs to ensure compliance for HSE Management System and identify improvement opportunities
Representing the asset during agency site visits, providing expertise
Legally authorized to work in the United States
7 years HSE experience
5 years experience in the upstream energy industry
Experience driving a human performance culture that drives workforce involvement in HSE and improved safety performance
Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to travel up to 50% of the time
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Safety Engineering, Occupational Health, related field, or foreign equivalent
3 years formally or informally influencing a team that includes contingent workers
Certified Safety Professional
Experience participating in Tier 3 and Tier 2 audits with accountability for development and execution of actions to remedy audit findings
Experience is managing teams geographically separated
Experience utilizing incident tracking systems
Expert knowledge of HSE and Operations Management Systems – both development of the procedures and processes used as well as administering the programs
Ability to network and gain partnership from members of other workgroups
Listens actively and invites dialogue for exchanged opinions, then influences and acts to drive performance and achieve results
Builds strong relationships based on trust and seeks collaboration across organizational boundaries to achieve goals
