Description

The Global Desktop team provides core services in support of the Common Operating Environment (COE) desktop. This highly technical role requires strong troubleshooting and effective communication skills. The ability to work in a dynamic team environment and multitask is imperative. Given the technical nature of the team and the broad range of skills needed, we require analyst self-starters that can work on specific technical tasks with little or no supervision.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are required with the ability to perform well in a collaborative team environment. Strong generalist skill sets with advanced troubleshooting abilities required.

The Global Desktop team has responsibility in the following key areas:

  • Overall management of approximately 20,000 endpoints

  • Global client antivirus and security software

  • Group Policy Administration and client management scripts

  • Desktop deployment design and maintenance of core OS and imaging

  • Core application support, including Microsoft Office 365 and Internet Explorer

  • Support for endpoint encryption processes and technologies

  • Evaluating and setting global hardware standards for desktops, laptops and other peripherals

  • Supporting a standard user environment

  • Tier III support and escalation point for other technical support teams

  • Consulting on projects throughout the company as they relate to the Desktop environment

  • Setting the standards for current and future technology and processes related to the Desktop environment

Responsibilities may include:

  • Administration of Group Policy Objects (GPO) and supporting scripts

  • Administration and deployment of various security applications including McAfee security suite, McAfee DLP and BeyondTrust DefendPoint (Avecto)

  • Tier III Windows 7, Windows 10, and MAC OS support

  • Office 365 product support including OneDrive

  • Core application support and upgrades

  • Tier III tickets for operating system and core application escalated support

  • Supporting the migration of Windows OS to the latest version

  • Global pilot testing and technical support

  • Providing desktop expertise and consulting to global projects and other IT teams

  • Evaluating and planning for new operating systems and upgrades

  • Setting the standards for current and future technology and processes related to the Desktop environment

  • Support for endpoint encryption processes and technologies

Qualifications:

Basic/Required:

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States

  • 5 years of troubleshooting experience within the Windows environment

  • 5 years of experience in programming

  • 5 years of experience with low level configuration and security of the Windows client operating system

  • 3 years of experience developing and debugging PowerShell scripts

  • Intermediate knowledge of networking, TCP/IP, Active Directory, Group Policies and Preferences and DNS/DHCP and Windows 7/10 troubleshooting

  • Intermediate knowledge of VBScript, PowerShell, WMI, SQL, and Web Services

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Engineering, or other related technical discipline or foreign equivalent

  • 5 years of desktop, server, and network/systems support

  • 3 years managing custom Windows images

  • 3 years implementing and troubleshooting Microsoft Group Policy Objects

  • 3 years administration and troubleshooting McAfee security products via ePO

  • 3 years of experience using object-oriented programming languages and scripting (Java, Python, VB .NET, PL/SQL, Perl, C#, etc.)

  • 1 years evaluating enterprise client hardware

  • 1 years administration and troubleshooting DefendPoint (Avecto) endpoint management product

  • Experience with Systems Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT), and Microsoft Orchestrator

  • Strong Active Directory knowledge with experience in group policy administration

  • Knowledge and experience of application functionality at the API level

  • Experience using compatibility tools and remediation of application functionality problems

  • Experience with development of Reports & Dashboards using Spotfire or Power BI

  • Experience in building professional quality systems documentation

  • Experience in the Energy industry

  • Ability to multi-task in a team environment

  • Effective written and oral communication skills
