ConocoPhillips Alaska and its heritage companies have more than 50 years of business history in Alaska. As Alaska's largest oil and gas producer, the company produced an average 182 thousand barrels of oil and 9 million cubic feet of gas per day. ConocoPhillips, with about 1,100 Alaska employees, holds major ownership interests in the Prudhoe Bay Unit, the Kuparuk River Unit, and the Colville River Unit (Alpine). ConocoPhillips operates the Kuparuk and Alpine oil fields, has an ownership interest in the Trans Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS) and owns/operates the Polar Tankers fleet.
ConocoPhillips Alaska is currently looking for a Senior Project Lead to join the Greater Kuparuk Area (GKA) Capital Projects Team. This position reports to the GKA Project Manager and is responsible for the safe development and execution of capital projects for the Kuparuk Field. Typical projects range in size from $5MM to over $200MM, and may include infrastructure upgrades, well tie-ins, drill site expansions, and pipelines. Workload may include a single, larger project, or multiple smaller projects at various lifecycle stages.
Responsibilities may include:
Acts as the main point of contract for all phases of project development and execution, from engineering through procurement, fabrication, field construction and startup
Accountable for safely developing and delivering projects to key performance indicators, including cost, schedule, and quality
Responsible for providing leadership and direction to multi-disciplined teams design engineers, construction professionals, and third-party contractors.
Accountable for engagement and alignment with project stakeholders, including COPA Operations and Development, state and local agencies, and other external partners.
Works directly with third party engineering, procurement, and construction contractors to produce results.
Frequent travel (up to 25%) from Anchorage to the North Slope, fabrication locations, and engineering office locations
Legally authorized to work in the United States
Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering
3 years experience in project engineering / capital projects
5 years experience in the upstream oil and gas industry
Ability to travel 25% of the time
Strong written and verbal communications skills
Ability to work closely, gain trust, and build consensus with discipline engineering contractors, construction organization, equipment vendors, operations, and maintenance groups
Firm understanding of technical discipline engineering such as process engineering, piping design, instrument and electrical design, materials procurement, and construction support
Background in facility design, facilities operations, or construction work
Ability to complete multiple long-term projects simultaneously
Firm understanding of company business objectives and a dedication to develop projects that meet the company’s business needs
Enterprise view and an eye toward making business and technical decisions in support of the broader needs of the company
Ability to work with teams in an operating asset setting, focused to achieve overall cost and production
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve issues that continuously arise in project work
Networking, communicating with all necessary personnel to improve overall project and production performance
Team-working skills and influence management skills
Ability to follow written project procedures should be accompanied by open thinking and willingness to challenge accepted practices to generate new ideas to improve business and project performance
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
Strong communication skills to include writing, interpersonal, conflict resolution, public speaking, and stakeholder analysis
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and other partners
Ability to define problems, collect data, analyze data, apply to problem, and draw valid conclusions
Demonstrated ability to understand/interpret a variety of technical data in codes, and standards, mathematical or diagram form
Significant experience working effectively with standard computer applications (MS Office) that involve word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and scheduling programs
