Alaska Overview

ConocoPhillips is Alaska’s largest crude oil producer and largest owner of exploration leases, with approximately 1.3 million net undeveloped acres at year-end 2020. The company produced an average of 198 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2020. ConocoPhillips has major ownership interests in two of North America’s largest oil fields, both located on Alaska’s North Slope—Kuparuk, which the company operates, and Prudhoe Bay. Additionally, ConocoPhillips operates the Alpine Field and three satellites located on the Western North Slope. The company has an ownership interest in the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS) and owns/operates the Polar Tankers fleet.


In 2019 the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Data Management platform Intelex was deployed globally for managing data associated with HSE Events, Audits, Behavior Based Safety, Inspections, Assessments and Key Safety and Environmental Performance Indicators. In 2021 a new Environmental Permits database module will also be implemented. Ongoing success of the new platform requires focused attention on engaging the BU user community as well as interfacing with Corporate system managers and global user groups.

In recent years the Industrial Hygiene program has largely focused on field-based activities. There is a recognized need for centralized (i.e., Anchorage-based) program coordination to balance field-based Operations support and services. Ongoing success of IH compliance, NRC regulatory matters, and management system activities requires attention to slope operations as well as Corporate subject matter experts, recordkeeping requirements and regulatory compliance.

This position’s scope is primarily focused on (1) facilitating the collection of pertinent data in Intelex, and utilizing the collected data to support data-driven decision making at the business unit; and (2) on IH program coordination, in concert with activities taking place on slope by our field based IH professionals and coordinating with Corporate SME’s.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Work with Performance Assurance Coordinator to deliver and continuously improve current dashboards and visualization practices

  • Serve as lead Intelex administrator for the BU; work with Intelex users to provide system troubleshooting support, communicate requirements, serve as a training/instruction resource

  • Provide periodic and ad hoc database reports as needed

  • Serve as a resource for new Intelex module implementation(s)

  • In conjunction with the Performance Assurance Coordinator, maintain BU KPI’s and visualization dashboard

  • Work with BU environmental SMEs, technical safety SMEs, BU HSE and SD to define risk, environmental, greenhouse gas and sustainability data management needs

  • Ensure Industrial Hygiene compliance is maintained with Corporate, BU and regulatory requirements

  • Provide IH and Occupational Health program oversight, serve as Anchorage-based point of contact interacting with IH professionals and stakeholders at local and Corporate levels

  • Provide assistance as needed to the BU Radiation Safety Officer and provide applicable recordkeeping and database support

  • Coordinate the BU HSE procedure management program, ensuring continuous maintenance and improvement of written procedures. This will include facilitation of the BU Procedure Review Committee, usability mapping improvements and training, and electronic records management system maintenance

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or national, or an alien admitted as permanent resident, refugee or asylee

  • Bachelors degree or higher in Health, Safety, Information Management, Statistics or related discipline or foreign equivalent

  • 5 years of experience in data/records management, Information Technology, HSE, or related field

  • 3 years oil and gas industry experience

  • Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodations) to travel 10% of the time to field locations on a yearly basis


  • 3 years working experience as a data analyst, data scientist or business data analyst

  • Experience managing HSE performance measures

  • Intermediate knowledge of Intelex and ConocoPhillips’ Environmental data management state of being

  • Basic knowledge of ConocoPhillips’ reporting Standards, Procedures and Guidelines

  • DRM experience and expertise; proficiency in document and records management processes and tools (i.e. SharePoint, LiveLink, etc.)

  • Strong individual contributor who can work effectively with minimal supervision

  • Strong administrative skills

  • Intermediate level of knowledge of Microsoft Office products, Environmental Management Information System

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy

  • Delivers on commitments with attention to detail and ability to deliver high quality results with pressing deadline demands

  • Well-developed planning and organizational skills including the ability to work independently, prioritize activities, and proactively handle time
